Greg Aker

President & Chief Technology Officer

Greg first put fingers to keyboard during an independent study project involving large IBM computers in 1977. He went on to obtain a BS degree in accounting from Virginia Tech. During his college studies he pursued course work in what would later become the Accounting Information Systems degree program.

Shortly after graduating and beginning work as a director of information systems, Greg oversaw the gradual introduction of the personal computer into a business environment. As the PC gained acceptance for business use, the first linked networks of PCs followed.

Greg began network consulting in 1993, as Novell came into prominence as the premier network solution. Even as his company was implementing the latest Novell directory services technology, Greg saw the potential of the newly launched Microsoft server system, Windows NT. His company soon became one of the first Microsoft Certified Partners in the Carolinas.

Following the success of Windows NT, Microsoft released an innovative bundle of server-based products for small organizations called Small Business Server. Greg again maneuvered his company to an early leadership position in the implementation of this product.

Carolinas Net Care continues to identify emerging technologies that can be successfully implemented in smaller organizations to increase the overall value IT can provide to the organization. Greg’s duties include serving as the company chief executive and as the chief technology officer, providing the strategic technical direction for the company’s future growth.

Fred Longietti

Vice President & Chief Sales Officer

Fred began working with some of the earliest microcomputers before the PC was marketed to companies and individuals in the early 1980s. He went on to obtain a BS degree in chemistry with a minor in computer science from Westminster College.

In 1983, Fred began marketing computer hardware and software technologies to businesses in the Carolinas. In 1986 he developed a method to implement PC technology into the systems of a large North Carolina bank and proved that the PC was a cost-efficient way to “massage the numbers.”

Fred went on to manage the business operations of a local computer technology reseller. He grew the business to a staff of 12 sales and service professionals. What started as selling the first PCs moved into implementing some of the first computer networks and providing companies with a complete technology solution.

In 2001, Fred began working with Greg Aker. At that time he became one of the first to successfully market a managed care solution to the SMB market. Carolinas Net Care has become a leader in providing managed care to businesses in the Carolinas. Fred’s duties include meeting with business owners, officers, and managers to explore ways to better manage their networks.
